Ganapati was founded in the early 2000s by guitarist Bernard Margarit, driven by his passion for Indian musical traditions. His encounters with tabla player Debashish Bramahchari and sitarist Joyeeta Sanyal marked the beginning of a unique artistic journey. Over the years, the group has expanded through collaborations with many Indian musicians (Debojoyti Sanyal, Mosin Kawakhan, Udupa Giridhar, Labonee Mohanta, Rishab Prasanna…), establishing itself as a vibrant intercultural laboratory.
Now performing as a trio, Ganapati creates original compositions where sitar and tabla converse with guitars and contemporary arrangements. Balancing ancient traditions and modern textures, Ganapati offers music filled with creativity, energy, and improvisation.
